Local legend, Mr.Arthur Collins, has hung up his dancing shoes at the age of 70. Arthur, best known for his impromptu performances in Daly's Lounge at the weekends, has decided it's best if he calls it a day. "I use dancing to embellish, extend or enlarge upon an existing emotion," says Arthur, winking at the barmaid as I chat with him in Daly's Lounge on a typically raucous Friday night. "To quote Jose Limon, 'I saw the dance as a vision of ineffable power. A man could, with dignity and a towering majesty, dance. Not mince, cavort, do 'fancy dancing' or 'showoff' steps. No: Dance as Michelangelo's visions dance and as the music of Bach dances." The music quickens and Arthur views with envy the vibrant scene on the floor as the many couples enjoy the weekend atmosphere. Arthur downs the rest of his pint. "Farewell, farewell," he says with a distant smile, and in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
